Every story begins somewhere. In Leeds, it begins on Sunday 10 January.
On that morning, Star Studio opens its doors at The Grammar School at Leeds, and we would love you and your child to be there. Launch day is the start of our Sunday School: a morning of musical theatre and screen acting led by working professionals, with a welcome for the whole family, a talk for parents and a finale on stage.
This guide covers everything you need: what happens, when, where to go and how to book.

What’s on for parents
- 9.30am, Welcome. Stay and watch as we welcome everyone together.
- 10.05am, Parent talk. Meet the team, including our Co-founder Emma MacFayden, who leads Star Studio Leeds. Hear how a Star Studio term works and ask us anything.
- All morning, café and booking desk. Grab a coffee, chat to the team and ask about Founding Family places.
- 12.05pm, Finale. Come back in to watch Spotlight and Encore share what they have made in a single morning.
Why Star Studio?
Taught by working actors. Every tutor is a working professional in theatre, musical theatre or screen. Your child learns the craft from people who do it for a living, with real scripts, real lighting and real cameras.
Stage and screen, under one roof. Musical theatre and Screen Acting sit side by side, so young performers build confidence in front of an audience and in front of a camera. Every 12-week term ends with a sharing for family and friends, and students take home filmed work.
Connected to the industry. We work with casting professionals and agencies, so students who want to go further get honest advice about the next steps. We never promise representation; we help young performers get ready for it.
Safe and welcoming. All tutors hold enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training, and the campus has a designated safeguarding lead. Shy children are very welcome: nobody is ever made to perform.

Your questions
Does my child need any experience? No. Every programme starts from where your child is, and your tutor will recommend the right group.
Can I stay? Yes. You are welcome at the welcome, the parent talk and the finale, and the café is open all morning.
Can siblings come? Yes. Book each child into their own age group.
What if we can’t make 10 January? Book a free Taster Sunday in November, or contact us and we will find another way in.
See you on stage
We can’t wait to meet you. Book your place, tell a friend whose child would love it, and we’ll see you at GSAL on Sunday 10 January.
